Since 2009, I’ve been working in the interior design industry. I’ve interned for a hospitality design company, worked in various furniture and fabric showrooms, and been an interior designer for a design-build firm. I decided to hang out my shingle and launch m studio interior design in 2015. And now I get to do what I love best: Design homes that are totally customized to the clients I work with!
If there’s one event I look forward to every year, it’s KBIS, NKBA’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, the ultimate playground for K&B design lovers. This show is where innovation meets inspiration, bringing together the latest trends, game-changing products, and some of the most creative minds in the industry. And let’s be real, a little Vegas energy never hurts to keep things exciting!
From ultra-efficient cabinet accessories to space-saving toilets (a new fun fave find!) and sustainable finishes that are changing the game, I found plenty to get excited about this year. Here are some of my favorite takeaways from KBIS 2024 and what’s making waves in the world of kitchen and bath design.
If there’s one thing I love, it’s a kitchen that works as beautifully as it looks. This year at KBIS, I was all about smart cabinet accessories, the “unsung heroes” of an efficient kitchen. Think pull-out pantries that maximize every inch, hidden charging drawers to keep counters clutter-free, and corner solutions that actually make use of those awkward dead spaces (goodbye, lost Tupperware lids, ha!).
One of my faves was this custom drawer organizer that went beyond the basic divide, but had built-in LED lighting so you can actually see what’s inside. And let’s not forget touch-to-open cabinetry.. So sleek, handle-free, and perfect for creating that effortless, modern look.
Not the most glamorous topic, but hear me out on this one. Toilets are getting seriously smart. More than just the heated seats and built-in bidets, as more homes prioritize efficient layouts and spa-like bathrooms, manufacturers are stepping up with compact, high-functioning designs that save both space and water. The Hidealoo toilet is the first ever (that I’ve seen at least) compact toilet that can pivot into a cabinet or hidden space to free up precious square footage (ideal for small bathrooms or powder rooms)… think about tiny homes and limited square footage in big city condos!
Plus, several brands showcased dual-flush and water-saving options, proving that sustainability and style can go hand in hand, making moves toward a more sustainable bathroom. And yes, of course, there were even the models with heated seats and self-cleaning technology, which will soon be the norm in the world of toilets if you ask me!
A greener future for the kitchen & bath industry! Sustainability continues to take center stage at these conventions, and I’m thrilled to see more and more brands prioritizing eco-friendly materials, responsible production, and locally made goods. From countertops crafted with recycled materials to zero-VOC and even silica-free finishes that enhance indoor air quality, the industry is making significant strides toward healthier, more sustainable design solutions.
USA-made cabinetry brands embracing water-based finishes instead of solvent-based ones, significantly reducing emissions without compromising durability. I also learned that companies like Blanco (they make my favorite kitchen sinks, the Silgranit!) rethinking their packaging, opting for recycled and biodegradable materials to minimize waste. Choosing American-made products not only supports local craftsmanship but also reduces the carbon footprint associated with overseas manufacturing. These thoughtful innovations are shaping a more sustainable and conscious future for kitchen and bath design.
Every year, KBIS leaves me feeling seriously inspired, energized, and full of new ideas for upcoming projects… and, ok, a bit exhausted to tell the truth lol! But between the innovative products, forward-thinking design solutions, and, of course, the fun of being in Vegas with my design besties, it’s always a trip worth taking.
If you’re as obsessed with smart storage, space-saving solutions, and sustainable & USA-made design items as I am, stay tuned—I can’t wait to start incorporating some of these finds into a few of our future design projects!

As the industry continues to evolve, one thing is clear from my interior design perspective. Innovation and sustainability are shaping the future of kitchen and bath design… and really home remodeling as a whole. From cutting-edge functionality to eco-conscious materials, the products showcased at this year’s KBIS prove that style and sustainability can go hand in hand, this is not just a come-and-go trend. It’s exciting to see how these features will transform the way we design and live in our spaces.
