Since 2009, I’ve been working in the interior design industry. I’ve interned for a hospitality design company, worked in various furniture and fabric showrooms, and been an interior designer for a design-build firm. I decided to hang out my shingle and launch m studio interior design in 2015. And now I get to do what I love best: Design homes that are totally customized to the clients I work with!
When it comes to every new project, we are committed to creating spaces that allow our clients to thrive in their surroundings- designing spaces that blend beauty, function, and comfort. This cozy bathroom was no exception! One of our favorite projects (and clients!) to date perfectly exemplifies of how thoughtful design can transform even the most challenging layouts into warm, inviting sanctuaries. A fun bonus to add, this tiny bathroom won several design awards with the Southern California chapters of ASID and NKBA for creative use of space and design excellence!!
Bathroom Before Photos
The original bathroom design presented several challenges. Despite the home’s eclectic Spanish influences, the bathroom lacked harmony and functionality. The layout was awkward, with a closed-in shower and limited storage. Worst of all, the toilet was the most prominent feature upon entering the space—hardly a welcoming sight.
Our client needed a bathroom that not only reflected the architectural essence of their home but also provided modern comfort and function. Our design approach focused on elevating warmth and comfort while seamlessly integrating the space with the rest of the house.
To create a more cohesive design, we reimagined the bathroom’s layout with a wet room concept. By relocating the shower and toilet, we maximized the room’s functional space, making it more open and breathable. The result? A bathroom that flows harmoniously and feels like a natural extension of the home.
One of the standout features is the soaking tub, which was carefully selected to fit the petite homeowner. Thoughtfully placed beneath a newly obscured window, the tub enjoys an abundance of natural light, enhancing the sense of relaxation and retreat.
To define the shower and vanity areas while maintaining an open and airy feel, we installed a black-framed glass panel. This modern yet understated feature creates visual separation without closing off the space, contributing to the overall feeling of openness and warmth.
In any bathroom, storage is key. We custom-designed a vanity cabinet that not only complements the bathroom’s aesthetic but also offers maximum functionality. Equipped with interior electrical outlets, pull-outs, and organizer trays, the vanity provides a place for everything, reducing clutter and enhancing the serene atmosphere.
Floating shelves above the toilet add extra storage without overpowering the room, and a reconfigured hallway linen cabinet now accommodates both linen essentials and bathroom product overflow.
The transformation of this bathroom reflects our commitment to creating spaces that elevate warmth and comfort. By addressing the client’s needs with a thoughtful, modern design that honors the home’s architectural integrity, we were able to craft a bathroom that is both functional and inviting—a true retreat within their home.
At m studio interior design, we believe that every space should feel like a sanctuary. Whether it’s a bathroom, living room, or entire home, our goal is to design interiors that bring comfort, warmth, and beauty into everyday life.
