Years before construction commenced, our clients whom we've worked with for their primary home had already fallen in love with the the quiet privilege of an unobstructed view that felt almost like a secret kept just for them. When a neglected parcel across the street came to market, a weathered and diminutive cottage adrift on an expansive lot, they didn't hesitate. The decision was less about acquisition and more about protection... a quiet act of preservation for the vista they had come to treasure as their own!
What followed was a patient and thoughtful evolution. A dilapidated 600-square-foot shell gave way to an architecturally considered two-level home of nearly 5,000 square feet, one that held space for possibility rather than prescription. Would it one day be sold to a family seeking sanctuary? Offered to traveling professionals as a refined retreat? Kept close as a haven for guests? The answer remained beautifully open, and the design rose to meet that uncertainty with grace.
Flexibility was woven into the very bones of the structure. Three thoughtfully placed closure points allow the home to function as a single dwelling or separate into distinct living environments: a primary residence upstairs, a generous multi-purpose suite below, and a self-contained junior unit accessed from the exterior, each capable of standing gracefully on its own. Kudos to the architect!!
The material palette speaks in the serene, unhurried language of the coast while balancing ease of maintenance. Soft neutrals hold the light gently, while considered moments of contrast lend depth without disruption, creating an atmosphere that feels equally at ease welcoming sun-worn bare feet or polished professionals. Quartz surfaces gleam with understated elegance, porcelain tile grounds each room with cool and enduring calm, and TFL cabinetry brings warmth and refinement with the quiet durability a well-loved home demands. Every selection was made with both beauty and longevity in mind.
This is a home built to endure, to welcome, to adapt, and above all to protect the luminous and irreplaceable thing that started it all: the view.
