Since 2009, I’ve been working in the interior design industry. I’ve interned for a hospitality design company, worked in various furniture and fabric showrooms, and been an interior designer for a design-build firm. I decided to hang out my shingle and launch m studio interior design in 2015. And now I get to do what I love best: Design homes that are totally customized to the clients I work with!
December is my favorite time of the year as we have this tradition of heading to Central California to visit the Cambria Christmas Market at the beautiful Cambria Pines Lodge. Set against a scenic backdrop of coastal pines, this festive marketplace is something right out of a winter wonderland. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by rows of colorful stalls, each brimming with holiday cheer, and thousands of twinkling lights that make the entire place feel magical. Think European-inspired Christmas markets with a California twist—cozy, charming, and packed with inspiration.
Visitors can expect a blend of traditional holiday experiences and local artisan flair. From handmade ornaments and unique holiday decor to savory food stalls and warming drinks, there’s a little something for everyone. The air is filled with the comforting scents of pine, cinnamon, and freshly baked treats, making you feel instantly at home. Plus, with live entertainment and festive music around every corner, it’s impossible not to feel the holiday spirit!
One of the things that struck me most about the market was how inspiring it was for holiday decorations. As someone who loves decorating for the holidays, I found myself mentally filing away ideas with every new booth I visited. Whether it was the cozy glow of string lights perfectly layered over wooden beams or the creative displays of handmade ornaments, there was something here for every decorating style.
For anyone who’s looking to add some seasonal touches to their home, the Cambria Christmas Market is a treasure trove of ideas. One of my favorite takeaways was the mix of natural elements like pine cones and dried orange garlands, which added a rustic, organic feel to the decorations. It’s a subtle but sophisticated way to bring the outdoors inside and give your holiday decor an eco-friendly touch.
The market is not only about holiday decorations but also a showcase of local craftsmanship. It’s a fantastic way to support small businesses while picking up unique gifts and decor items you won’t find anywhere else. From handcrafted wooden toys to intricate jewelry, the vendors bring an amazing level of artistry to their creations. Some of my favorite pieces included hand-poured candles in festive scents, delicate glass ornaments, and custom wreaths that would be perfect on any front door.
It’s also inspiring to see the love and care that each artisan puts into their work. I left feeling incredibly motivated to incorporate more handmade items in my own holiday decor, knowing they add a touch of warmth and personality that store-bought items often lack. There’s nothing like adding a piece with a story to your home—something made by real people with genuine holiday cheer.
One of the best parts of the Cambria Christmas Market is that it’s an experience to share. Whether you’re walking through with family, a group of friends, or a special someone, it’s an adventure that feels warm and welcoming. Cambria itself is a quaint little town with a coastal charm that’s especially cozy in December. After exploring the market, I recommend taking a leisurely stroll through town or grabbing a cup of hot chocolate at one of the local cafes to round out your day.
The Christmas Market offers so many fun photo opportunities too. If you’re looking for a holiday-themed day out or a chance to create new memories, Cambria is a beautiful spot for it. The vibrant lights, friendly atmosphere, and holiday goodies make it a memorable getaway that’s worth adding to your holiday travel list.
If you’re looking for holiday inspiration or simply want to soak in some festive cheer, I highly recommend adding the Cambria Christmas Market to your plans. Whether you’re a local Californian or traveling from out of state, it’s a holiday experience you won’t want to miss. Plus, supporting local artisans and getting unique decor ideas is a win-win!
