Venturing into Havana, Cuba was like traveling back in time!! The cobblestone streets, colorful facades, classic cars and stunning architecture definitely had a way of breathing life into the city.
My designer brain couldn’t help but be captivated by the effortless beauty surrounding me. From the vibrant hues to the intricate details of colonial buildings, the city’s rich history radiates through its design.
The adventure took me from Havana’s bustling streets to the serene beaches of Varadero, where the contrast between the vibrant city and the peaceful coastline provided a well-rounded exploration of Cuban culture.
In Havana, I was inspired by the timeless appeal of pastel-colored buildings and wrought-iron balconies. Each building seemed to have a story etched into its walls—whether from the soft peeling of paint revealing layers of color beneath or the weathered textures shaped by decades of Caribbean breezes.
One particular element that stood out was the use of bold, sun-soaked colors. From mustard yellows to oceanic blues, these vibrant tones brought a sense of warmth and energy to spaces that might otherwise feel stark. Incorporating similar hues into interior design can instantly uplift a room, evoking the tropical essence and lively spirit that permeates Cuban architecture.
Venturing further into Varadero, the tranquil surroundings offered a different kind of inspiration. The natural landscapes, filled with swaying palms and the gentle hum of the ocean, served as a reminder of the beauty in simplicity.
This minimalism translates seamlessly into interior design by balancing vibrant elements with neutral, calming tones to create spaces that both energize and soothe.
Reflecting on this journey, a deep sense of gratitude emerged—not just for the beauty that surrounded me, but for the opportunity to explore these culturally rich spaces. Gratitude plays an essential role in design, as it allows us to appreciate the stories behind the architecture, the craftsmanship of every detail, and the emotional connections that spaces can foster.
