The Traveling Designer: Puerto Vallarta, MX Edition

Greetings, friends! I can’t help but share last month’s unforgettable and captivating adventure through the picturesque coastal towns of San Pancho, Lo de Marco, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  I had the immense pleasure of celebrating a dear friend and client’s wedding in this breathtaking region!  As we all immersed ourselves in the festivities, I couldn’t help but be captivated by the rich array of design details that adorned every corner, reflecting the essence of coastal living and the vibrant spirit of Mexico.

Join in as we delve into the exuberant tapestry of design elements woven into the fabric of these mesmerizing locales, all through the lens of interior design and, wellness.

Vibrant Colors

The first thing that caught my eye was the explosion of colors that adorned the streets and buildings, from the smaller towns of San Pancho and Lo de Marco to the bustling alleys of Puerto Vallarta. The vibrant hues of the traditional Mexican architecture left me at awe and the eclectic palette of street art never failed to capture my attention!  Every shade seemed to dance in harmony with the tropical landscape. 

While very much a tourist area, every storefront embodied the harnessing the power of color to evoke emotions and uplift the spirit. Inspired by the lively streetscapes, I can definitely envision infusing future designs with bold splashes of color, reminiscent of the vibrant energy of these coastal towns.

Use of Texture

Walking through the cobblestone streets, I couldn’t help but notice the intricate textures that adorned the facades of buildings and the interiors of quaint cafes. From ornate wood work to sculpted walls, texture played a pivotal role in adding depth and character to the variety of spaces. 

I was particularly drawn to the juxtaposition of rustic elements with contemporary design touches, creating a sense of warmth and authenticity. Inspired by this harmonious blend of textures, I’m excited to incorporate more natural materials and tactile surfaces into our designs, inviting the soothing touch of nature into every space.

Nature-Inspired

Being surrounded by the breathtaking shores of Puerto Vallarta, there was no shortage of nature-inspired design elements!  The mesmerizing landscape of Mexico’s coast where shimmering azure waters meet lush greenery appeared to be a major influence from the architecture to decor.

From restaurants that offered a jungle-like experience to breezy outdoor living spaces that seamlessly blend with the natural surroundings, the design effortlessly embraced the beauty of the coastal landscape. Envisioning our projects, we’re inspired to create spaces that celebrate the splendor of nature, allowing the serene beauty of the outdoors to become an integral part of the design narrative.

My recent visit to San Pancho, Lo de Marco, and Puerto Vallarta has left an indelible mark on my design sensibilities. From the vibrant colors to the use of texture and the awe-inspiring landscape, every aspect of our journey has fueled our passion for creating spaces that promote wellness and harmony.
