Since 2009, I’ve been working in the interior design industry. I’ve interned for a hospitality design company, worked in various furniture and fabric showrooms, and been an interior designer for a design-build firm. I decided to hang out my shingle and launch m studio interior design in 2015. And now I get to do what I love best: Design homes that are totally customized to the clients I work with!
In the realm of home organization, the coffee table stands as an often underestimated yet integral piece of furniture. Beyond its aesthetic contribution to a living space, this unassuming centerpiece has the ability to offer dual functionality—providing a platform to define the room’s character while discretely concealing everyday essentials. From snugly folded blankets to frequently misplaced remotes, the coffee table serves as an elegant repository for these items, preserving a sense of order without compromising on style.
The beauty of the coffee table lies in its versatility, accommodating a myriad of design preferences and practical needs. Whether your inclination leans toward the weathered wood charm of rustic coffee tables, the sleek lines of a modern minimalism surface, or the raw, natural allure of a live edge coffee table, the essence remains rooted in functionality. Each style not only complements the aesthetics of your space but also serves as an organizational hub.
While curating a sophisticated living room design for our esteemed clients’ urban Bankers Hill condo, the significance of optimizing storage became paramount. With limited living room cabinetry, we embarked on a quest to discover practical yet stylish solutions. It was during this quest that we stumbled upon a gem—a drum coffee table featuring removable wooden trays that offered a creative answer to our storage dilemma.
This multifunctional furniture piece seamlessly incorporated itself into the space, providing an elegant storage solution for seasonal décor, magazines, and assorted items while maintaining a sleek, modern aesthetic. Its innovative design not only met our storage needs but also added a layer of contemporary charm to the room.
The table’s rounded movement harmonized effortlessly with the surrounding elements, perfectly complementing the sectional sofa and circular area rug. Its subtle curves and versatile functionality not only enhanced the visual appeal but also contributed to the room’s functionality, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.
This ingenious discovery didn’t just fulfill a storage requirement; it became an integral part of the design narrative, elevating the overall ambiance of the room. The seamless blend of form and function made it a standout piece that merged practicality with a chic, modern allure, proving that exceptional design can indeed be found in the most unexpected places.
